My Fabric Scrapbook

Fabric Scrapbook , originally uploaded by byjen . Here are some pictures of the layouts I completed in the Donna Downey class. I can't stop saying how amazing this class was. Donna Downey was such a great teacher! And it was so much fun to learn and try different art techniques and learn about different art materials. And it was really liberating to celebrate the everyday by just working with random favorite photos and happy colors and simple, but meaningful text. Did I mention how much fun this was? I LOVED IT!!

A fun day with Donna Downey!

Today was such a fun day! I got to spend the whole day being creative. I learned a lot of fun and new "artsy" techniques. And I got to meet one of my biggest creative inspirations, Donna Downey ! I will be sure to share more soon, but I am exhausted from all the fun.

Donna Downey Here I Come!!!

I am so excited to be going to San Jose today to take Donna Downey's new fabric scrapbooking class today! Donna Downey is such a huge inspiration for me. I can't wait to meet her! And I can't wait to spend an entire day being creative!

Family Fun

Yesterday Daniel and I took Rebecca to see the Lion King. We had been once before well before Rebecca (~8-1/2 years ago). I remember it being amazing and it was. When the show was over, Rebecca looked up at Daniel and said "I loved it!" Doesn't get much better than that!

A work in progress

"Bee" Curious , originally uploaded by byjen . I am currently finishing up a few new word arts for gifts. I've made this one for my mom to give as a gift to the teacher she works for.

Family Fun Fridays!

The new carousel at the zoo! , originally uploaded by byjen . In an attempt to be more active at blogging I am going to be trying some fun themes to keep me inspired and on track. So welcome to Family Fun Fridays! This past Monday, I had the pleasure of attending a special zoo celebration with my family. We have a new carousel at the zoo. And it has the most amazing animals! Rebecca (on the Snow Leopard) loves carousels, so this was very exciting! Katherine (on the Anteater) is still not sure what to think. But none the less, we had a great time!
This past Saturday I attended IndieSacramento with friends, Donavan and Lacey . It turned out to be a wet May 2nd but overall the experience was still great fun. Despite the rain there was a good number of talented crafters and shoppers. We met lots of nice people. I especially enjoyed meeting Kenna , a very talented photographer. In fact, I bought one of her prints, Lucky in Love , and it has to be my favorite purchase from the day. I look forward to the next craft show on the 16th!

Ready for IndieSacramento

Proud Artist , originally uploaded by byjen . We're all excited for the craft fair tomorrow. Life has been crazy as I scrambled to make enough art for this show (I've only know about it for a little more than a week). Everyone in my family has been so helpful getting ready for the show, including my daughter, Rebecca. Last night Rebecca made a few of her own frames to sell. Wish us luck!!
